The Days When Words Refuse to Come
Some days, the words don’t come at all. I’ve learned to step away, to wait, and to trust that even silence is part of the process—and that something small will eventually return.

I sit at my desk, fingers resting on the keyboard, and nothing happens. Not even a sentence I can pretend to like. It used to scare me—this silence—but I’ve learned it’s part of the process.
There’s a quiet pressure that comes with being a writer, especially when people are waiting for your next story. It’s easy to believe that inspiration should always be within reach. But the truth is, it isn’t. And maybe it shouldn’t be.
On these days, I try not to force it. I make tea. I reread old notes. I take long walks where I let my mind wander without expectation. Writing, I’ve discovered, often begins far away from the page.
Eventually, something small returns—a phrase, an image, a feeling. It’s never dramatic. But it’s enough. And sometimes, enough is all I need to begin again.
