The Fear of Finishing a Book
As I near the end of a story, I slow down. Letting go is never easy, but finishing means trusting the story to live beyond me.

There’s a strange kind of fear that appears near the end. A hesitation I can’t always explain. After spending so much time inside a story, letting it go feels like losing something.
I find myself revisiting scenes, rewriting lines that are already finished, as if delaying the inevitable. It’s not perfectionism—not entirely. It’s something softer, more emotional. A reluctance to say goodbye.
But stories aren’t meant to stay with us forever in their unfinished form. They need to be released, imperfect and complete at the same time. That’s how they find their way to others.
So I take a breath, make the final edits, and let it go. Trusting that the story will continue to live, just not only with me anymore.
